YVONNE RIDLEY coming to campus!
Barely had the ashes of the World Trade Center in New
York settled when Sunday Express journalist Yvonne
Ridley found herself captured by the Taliban in
Afghanistan and held for 10 days.
British-born, award-winning journalist Yvonne Ridley
was a senior reporter of the Sunday Express at the
time, having spent nearly 10 years in Fleet Street
working for several prestige titles including The
Sunday Times, The Observer, Daily Mirror and
Independent on Sunday. She has also worked on projects
as a broadcaster, producer and presenter on programs
for BBC TV and radio, CNN, ITN and Carlton TV.
Ridley, who had gone to Afghanistan to report for the
British paper, found herself becoming the news
instead. And her story could not have been more full
of surprises and irony. She was duly released
unharmed. Upon her release, she started reading the Qur’an and afterwards accepted Islam.
Come hear the amazing story of this remarkable woman
for yourself! Please note: this event will not focus on her conversion, but rather her experiences as a captive and journalist.
